November 8, 2008

Our newest tank of semen came in just this morning.  The new leaders this year are Geri and Loftur.

For the first time, we are breaking up our AI Sire page into horned, polled and leader for ease of use.

"Leader Sheep" Sires:

Ari: #91969, a leader ram born in 1991. Ari is black blazed with white belly and feet. He is intelligent looking and is calm and alert in the barn. Both of Ari's parents are from lines of purebred leader sheep.  ~ We have an Ari granddaughter from Yeoman Farm, STS-434K.

Biskup: #96-822, a horned black ram born in 1996.  He carries moorit and is blazed with white socks.  He is said to be sensible and calm, with an intelligent look.  Our Biskup lambs are all leader, with long legs, strong horns and an "heads-up" style.

Blesi:  #98-884, a spotted black horned leader ram, born 1998.  He is the grandsire of Leifur 02-900 above.  Blesi has the more traditional spotting pattern for leader sheep, white blaze, white socks,  and in his case, a white bib.

Geri:  #03986, a moorit spotted leader ram, born 2003.   Geri is the great, great-grandson of Ari, 91-969.

He is said to be both calm and reasonable by disposition, and only distantly related to other leader rams.

Leifur:  #02-900, a horned black/gray spotted ram born in 2002.  He has an unusual spotting pattern as he shows very little color and is mostly spot.  He is a paternal grandson of Blesi 98-884 whose straws we are importing fall of 2005.

Here is our Leifurson BLW-827R,     and you can see that he is his father's son!

Tigull:  #04-939  A black spotted leader born in 2004.  He is said to be alert and easily controlled.  We have a ram lamb out Tigull and our Sniffy, BLW-863R.
