Breeding Rams 2008     Previous Breeding Rams

These are our breeding ewes here at Jager Farm.  They are arranged by age, oldest to youngest.  If a ewe has died, been retired or sold, then they are still listed at the bottom in a separate chart.  Even though these girls are no longer working for us, they still have descendents in the flock so their genetics are still of import.  We are adding some new statistical information on some of the girls, due to the addition of BLUP stats for milkiness and prolificacy that SouthRam has added to their website.

You can see their BLUP listings at:  http://southram.bssl.is/default2.asp?Docid=527&RevID=500&Tpl=1Template1.asp&M1=398&M2=527    We have pointed out scores that are pertinent to our ewes when possible.   Note that in the BLUP system, 100 is average, less than 100 is a negative, and over 100 is better than average.  The meat scores are leanness, muscling, and then a composite meat score, maternal scores are milkiness and fertility.

Leg Spot

4/14/08 A Mori granddaughter and a Grimur great-granddaughter, plus her dam is linebred to our treasure Solee, STS-38Z.  213U must carry solid and moorit, spotting likely, and could be homozygous for moorit under the white pattern.  Leg Spot is a careful, watchful mother and birthed easily.  Just like her mother 213U lambed easily and is mothering well as a yearling.  213U was only wormed once last summer - spectacular for a lamb born to a yearling, and has not been wormed this summer while she raises her own lamb as a yearling.  And look at her build!

4/14/08 19/32 AI with Arfi, Flotti, Sveppur, Heli, Flekkur and Hnykill, wow!  Dam 908S did a wonderful job with 214 and 215, her first lambs and she must have plenty of milk.  215U has that lovely, smoky gray undercoat.  215U jumped right in with twins as a yearling and is doing a great job, no problem with twins with this young mother.  Carries moorit and spotting.  215U has never needed worming!

Lamb fleece is very nice, with very good down.  2# exactly.

Her lamb fleece is awesome!  2#, 9 oz. skirted, packed with thel, long, silky, curly tog, very fine.  Wow!

Wow!  Are these lambs jazzy!  Also, stocky, wide and fast growing as we have learned to expect from Ormur.  Our Ormur ewe lambs are great yearling mothers and Topaz is doing an excellent job with these lambs, so expect very good maternal traits as well as the size, fleece and color.  1/2 Ormur, plus 1/16 each Heli, Sveppur and Flotti, 11/16 AI.   One of the first to lamb out of the ewe flock, and only the second yearling to lamb this spring.  Very sadly, her lamb was stolen by the fox.   Molly has not needed worming this summer with top scores.
